Do you need support climbing your stairs but do not need or want to install a stairlift?

We now have a great solution for you in Northern Ireland - the StairSteady system.

Stair Steady Stairsteady in Northern Ireland by John Preston Healthcare Tel 028 92 67 70 77

The StairSteady is a high quality handrail with a supporting rail coming off it that slides when pushed but locks when weight is applied. It acts as a support aid when both ascending and descending the stairs.

It is a very clever solution that consists of a folding handle on a rail which is attached to your wall along your flight of stairs.

The handle is a moving part which locks in place when any pressure is put and allows you to take a rest at any point of your stairs with safety.

It can be used by a user with a maximum weight of 25 stone.

It also provides you with a sturdy and secure handle to hold on to as you walk up or down the stairs at your own pace. You will be able to maintain your independence and freedom without compromising on appearance.

The StairSteady is of value in many situations, whether recovering from some treatment or injury or having a permanent condition that makes you less stable. We have helped a wide range of customers from children through to the elderly with a varied assortment of conditions.

It enables people to remain active and make full use of their homes with an increased sense of confidence and security.

The StairSteady is designed and manufactured in Sheffield to meet ISO 9000 standards. It is quick and easy to install and required very little ongoing care. It can also be re-used so that if the customer decides to move home or needs a different solution it can be traded in through our dealer network.

Q: Does it matter if the wall to which the StairSteady will be fixed is a stud wall?

A: No, provided the wall has wooden supports.

Q: What happens if there are two people in the house that need to use the StairSteady?

A: It is possible to have a modified version with two handles on a single rail. So that once one

person has climbed the stairs the second can still follow.

Q: What happens if my stairs are not just a single straight flight of steps?

A: For a split flight the StairSteady can be supplied in two sections, one for each flight, each

with its own steadying handle (dogleg).

Q: Would a StairSteady replace my existing handrail?

A: Not necessarily, but it is a high quality handrail as well, so can replace your existing rail or

supplement it when mounted on the opposite wall to your existing handrail.

Q: Does it obstruct the stairs?

A: No, because it folds neatly out of the way when not in use, so others can use the stairs unobstructed.

Q: How long will it take to fit?

A: It takes about two hours to install

Q: How do I order one?

A: No, a VAT form will be sent to you on request, we are happy to let you know the criteria for not paying VAT

Q: How much weight does it hold?

A: It has been tested to 25 Stone, but do a special Bariatric StairSteady, but this may incur a special structural visit and may cost more.
