Riser Recliner chairs can require a lot of space to operate; typically the chair has to sit quite far out from the wall to allow it to fully recline. Wall Hugger mechanisms work in a different way from standard single motor mechanisms in that the chair moves forward before the backrest reclines. This means the chair can sit close to the wall making wall huggers ideal for use in confined spaces. Wall hugger mechanisms are only available in single motor configurations.
