John Preston Healthcare recently attended the Fire Safety Panel NI Conference in the Tullyglass Hotel.  The conference took place over two days, 7th and 8th February 2013 and seen around 140 delegates attending from various public and private sector organisations.

The event focused around current Fire Safety legislation and highlighted some potential issues for those deemed to be "People at Risk" through research conducted for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.  According to research the group most represented in fatal dwelling fires was the 66 + age category and therefore those who are likely to have a physical condition or disability.

Our Access Specialist, Matthew Fletcher, attended the exhibition with a range of evacuation products aimed at removing those with a physical condition or disability from a multi-floor building in the event of an emergency.  Matthew also gave a brief overview of the product range to the delegates including the AAT Stairclimber and Exitmaster Versa Evacuation Chair.

The evacuation chair enables one person to remove a disabled or physically impaired person down staircases and out of the building.  These chairs are commonly found in public sector buildings but are under utilised in commercial premises where the business may have disabled visitors or disabled staff members.

The stairclimber is an all-round access tool.  It can be used to help people move up and down all types of stairs but also in the event of an emergency can be used to remove people from lower levels in buildings where an evacuation chair is not suitable.

To find out more about either of these products please give our access specialist a call on 028 9267 7077.  Matthew can come out to your premises and provide a detailed and comprehensive assessment and quotation for access and evacuation requirements.
