Permobil Powerchair for the incredible Dr Peter Scott-Morgan - Scientist diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

Dr Peter Scott-Morgan was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2017. He was given 2 years to live but instead of accepting his fate he decided to challenge this and create Peter 2.0. "I am not dying, I am transforming" - (Dr Scott-Morgan).

Peter embraces cutting edge technological solutions in his attempt to overcome Motor Neurone Disease. He found the Permobil F5 VS Standing Powerchair and identified that it met his needs. He worked together with Permobi l to customise and adapt the chair. He added an intuitive co-pilot attendant control and pressure relieving seating upgrades to better meet his needs.

"I was lucky enough to first meet Peter in 2018 as he begun this project. He had identified our power wheelchair F5 VS as meeting his needs. Even with all the power functions the F5 VS includes, he challenged us with an array of customisations and adaptations he wanted in order to incorporate the very best third-party accessories and additions."

Together, Peter and Permobil staggered the customisation of the F5 VS so that he could start to benefit from it as soon as possible. Charlie Mark 1 was built and customised at Permobils workshop in Northern Sweden and delivered to Peter in November 2018.

The last of the customisations were completed in 2019 with eyegaze and avatar technology as well as an intuitive co-pilot attendant control and pressure relieving seating upgrades.

Sadly, Dr Scott-Morgan passed away in June 2022 but his innovative and fearless approach to technology integration and its application for the lives of disabled people is a powerful legacy.
