The Klip is the perfect all rounder. With 25 years experience in paediatric rehab medical equipment Circle Specialty have created the Klip to ensure proper fit and accomodate future growth. A variety of positioning accessories and supports are available for the klip and they can be added or removed as the users walking skills evolve. Additionally, it is easy-to-engage/disengage the foot-activated swivel wheel lock that switches the wheel from swivel to non-swivel with an audible click, offering the user greater control and safety. The Klip also folds in half for space-saving storage as well as convenient portability.

Key features

  • Large rubber, groove-treaded tires for uneven outdoor terrains
  • Multiple height-adjustable sizes to grow with your child
  • A wide array of add-on supports to meet the child’s unique requirements
  • Can be used as both an anterior and posterior walker
  • One-directional rear wheels and swiveling option for front wheels
  • Durable, strong and it has a foldable design for travelling

Disadvantages

The Klips wheels are larger in comparison to the Nimbo and the Kaye walkers. This does make the the Klip more sturdy and it enables the user to tackle different terrains. Nevertheless, some users may find it difficult turning in tight indoor spaces.

The Kaye

The Kaye is one of the most trusted brands of Posterior walkers in the world. The Kaye is similar to the Klip in that as the user grows the walker can be adjusted in height, this helps accommodate children through to shorter adults. It is also available in two-wheeled and four-wheeled models identical to the Klip walker.

Key features

  • Available in two and four wheeled versions
  • Efficient posterior design
  • A comprehensive selection of height-adjustable sizes
  • A range of accessories and add-on supports
  • Easy to fold for simple, compact transport

Disadvantages

The kaye walker does not come with a seat option. The retro seat system can be fitted to the conventional Kaye walker at an additional cost. The walkers standard wheels do have a plain hard wearing surface but they do not swivel. If the user wants swivel wheels they will have to purchase them as an add on.

The Nimbo

The Nimbo Posterior Walker provides the user with needed support for better ambulation. It has the added benefit that it is lightweight, height adjustable and it folds for transport. It is similar to the Klip as it is available with a fold down seat installed for those who may need regular rest breaks whilst walking.

Key Features

  • Height adjustable handles
  • Folds easily for transportation
  • Override bracket allows for forward and reverse mobility
  • Rubber wheels are non-slip
  • Front wheels can be locked

Disadvantages

The Nimbo although a cheaper alternative to both the Klip and the Kaye walker does however have the tendency to break. Many users have recorded having to replace their Nimbo, meaning extra hassle for users. The Nimbos accessories and sizing range is also very limited in comparsion to both the Klip and Kaye walkers, there is no heavy duty models all of which affect clinical outcomes.

Upon close inspection the Nimbo posture walker also failed to deliver the right positioning, for example the forearm gutter height. The rubber wheels have also been described by users as harder to turn and manouvre. These disadvantages along with the fact there is no optional large swivel front wheels or two wheeled models all impact the functionality and support offered to the child.

In Short...

The Klip, the Kaye and the Nimbo are all cost effective, convenient, and provide assistance for children with limited mobility. The Klip is more readily available in comparsion to both the Kaye and Nimbo walkers, and is available to purchase now from John Preston Healthcare Group.

We recommend the Klip for its versatility, multifunctionality and price. Its 4-wheel format uses large, rubber, groove-textured wheels to ensure safety and traction on uneven, outdoor terrains. It can also be used indoors as well. The user can also choose the walker with or without a fold-down seat in a selection of 4 different sizes that are conveniently height-adjustable to grow with the child.

Its 360-degree swivel front wheels optimise turning and steering, using a foot-activated wheel lock for easier, improved control. One of the advantages of the Klip is that it can be used as both a posterior walker and as an anterior walker (not available on the extra-small model), making it the perfect paediatric walker for users learning how to transition from an anterior style to a posterior style of walking.
