Basic wheelchairs

You may just need a basic wheelchair after a hospital visit, or if a relative or friend is visiting.

We offer both self propelled wheelchairs (the user turns the wheels) or an attendant wheelchair where someone else pushes the user.

Basic wheelchairs are inexpensive and simple to use but will be heavier than purpose built sports wheelchairs.

There is a range of seat widths available and we normally have basic wheelchair cushions available to purchase on site should this also be needed.

The Firefly is a powerful compact electric handbike attachment for use with manual wheelchairs.

Use of the Firefly gives users the ability to go anywhere they want including over rough terrains and up steep gradients.

Firefly compatibility:

The Firefly can attach to almost all wheelchairs with fixed front legs.

This can include folding wheelchairs - as long as the front legs / forks are fixed in place.

The Firefly cannot attach to wheelchairs with 'swing away' front legs.

It is compatible with wheelchairs with a seat width between 14" and 22".

You may be in a scenario whereby you help push a wheelchair user. For some, this can become dificult over time so you might wish to consider a wheelchair powerpack.

These are generally inexpensive and most fit quite easily to the majority of transit wheelchairs.

The attendant controls the throttle which is attached to the push handle.
