The Firefly 2.5 wheelchair handbike is the latest generation of our best selling wheelchair electric power add on. The latest model features a plethora of enhancements including a colour display with haptic touch feedback, new lighting system, dual disc brake system, dual kickstands to make for easier transfers, new colours, Locking headset for parking and transfers, frame dock with double cam levers, new thumb throttles, new lightweight battery, new custom frame tubing shape which absorbs shock and vibration and new handlebar grip ends makes sure your hands stay put.
We kept all the core features of the original firefly 2.0 including its unique attachment system. It still attaches to the front of most rigid and folding frame wheelchairs and even some chairs with swing away legrests. The Firefly 2.5 frame is made from 6061 aluminium material making it very strong but lightweight. With a powerful 350 watts and 5 speed modes, Firefly 2.5 can take you up to 12 miles per hour & lower speeds allow you to manoeuvre around buildings and stores with ease. The new improved Lithium ion 36V, 7AH, 252 Wh Panasonic battery gives an extra long life and gives you an extended real-world range of up to 15 miles or more. An additional Battery pack may also be purchased if you wish to extend your range. The battery lasts for over 3000 charge cycles, compared to only 500 cycles for a heavier lead-acid battery.
The Firefly is easy to control and manoeuvre with dual disc brakes, reverse buttons and throttle all within easy reach. It can be driven both forward and in reverse giving the user maximum control in a variety of situations. Fitting the Firefly is quick and easy and once attached it can be adjusted to suit a variety of users including both children and adults. After the initial installation process is completed, the device latches on and off your wheelchair in seconds. The quick-release centre frame comes apart easily without tools for transportation in a car, plane, or for storage. Wheelchair Compatibility
The Firefly can attach to almost all wheelchairs including folding models provided they have fixed front footrest hangers. The Firefly is also compatible with some wheelchairs with 'swing away' front legs but please check with us prior to purchase. It is compatible with wheelchairs with a seat width between 14" and 22". For narrower wheelchairs - please see the document in the 'downloads' tab that shows how the frame can be made to be more narrow. For wheelchairs with a seat with of less than 12" then we can supply a custom built frame - just choose this option above. The handcycle attachment system can be mounted to frame tube diameters 22.2mm, 25.4mm, 28.6mm, 30mm, 31.8mm and 34.9mm (7/8", 1", 1 1/8", 1.2", 1 1/4", 1 3/8”). We also offer alternative brackets to fit oval shaped tubing like that found on the Quickie Helium ,Xenon and Q7 models. These are available as an accessory option. The standard pack includes both a set of 1.25 inch clamps and a selection of shim sizes to reduce the clamp down to fit other sizes. The shim pack includes 4 x 1.25 inch Clamps,4 x small shims,4 x medium shims & 4 x large shims. Please refer to the help and advice tab for further shim advice.

Speed & Local Highway Regulations
The Firefly cannot to be used on the public roads in the UK as it doesn't meet the requirements of the British highway regulations. The Firefly is capable of 12 mph but please note that the legal speed limit for using such a device in public places is 4mph in the UK. A programmable speed limiter is fitted as standard and the speed should be limited to comply with local legislation. It is also advisable to limit the top speed for more vulnerable users including young children.
UK Wheelchair Services
If your chair was issued to you on loan from your local wheelchair services, it is important you check that they approve the fitting of a Firefly to their wheelchair before you place an order. Some wheelchair services prohibit the modification of chairs in any way as part of the condition of loan.
Firefly on Children's Wheelchairs
Firefly is designed to be easy to use by a wide range of age groups with the appropriate motor skills, spacial and danger awareness and cognitive function. We can supply a smaller frame for use on children's wheelchairs. This is suitable for wheelchairs that are between 10" and 12" wide. Call us on 028 92 677077 for a chat about this if needed. For children under 14 resident in the UK you must opt in for the speed limited control box option to limit top speed. Children under 14 should be supervised by a responsible adult at all times whilst operating their Firefly. As a rule of thumb, the Firefly wheelchair attachment is not suitable for users under 10 years old.

Airline Information
Access the manufacturer's Air Worthiness certificates from the Downloads tab . Contact your airline prior to travelling however rather than simply relying on these documents as various airlines have differing policies.
Manufacturer's Warranty
Your Firefly comes with a 1 year warranty. The battery has a 3 month warranty and is subject to you retaining a charge of between 20-80%. You must check this charge level if not using your Firefly to ensure it remains in optimum condition. We advise keeping the battery charge at between 20-80% for the lifetime of the product.
General Maintenance
Just like a bicycle, the Firefly also requires basic ongoing maintenance and safety checks to keep you safe out on the road. Please remember to check your motor's axle nuts at least every 3-6 months to ensure they are tight. If they are loose, they should be tightened using either an 18mm box wrench, 18mm socket & ratchet or at the very least a large adjustable wrench. The correct torque value is 40Nm. Any bike shop can do this process if you are not comfortable doing so. If you are getting a flat tire changed at a shop, then please let the mechanic know the torque value of 40Nm as standard bicycle axle nuts are tightened much less than our motor.
