Lithilite mobility scooters - review and how to buy

We took time to review the Lithilite mobility scooter and the larger Lithilite Pro model

So what can we take away from our review off the Lithilite mobility scooter range? Who are they ideal for and what draw backs do they have? We look in detail at the Lithilite and its more powerful big brother the Lithilite Pro and hopefully this will help you decide if they are something suitable for your unique needs.

So first of all - what does the name mean? Well, they are powered by the new generation of mobility scooter batteries - Lithium. They are also lightweight, hence the name Lithilite.

The Lithilite scooter has a range of 10 miles and 4kg battery pack whereas the Lithilite Pro model has a range of 27 miles using a 5kg battery pack (still half the weight of a conventional battery pack). There is also a handy air safe battery available that is approved for airline travel and this will reduce your range whilst away but be perfect for use on holiday.

The introduction of Lithium power in mobility scooters started a few years ago and is certainly here to stay. Lithium batteries are lighter than the older gel batteries, they last longer, give greater range and they are simple and easy to charge. You do have to be careful to follow any manufacturer advice however regarding the regular charging of your batteries to ensure efficiency over the years. You can charge the battery off board or separately too which is very convenient.

So this battery type helps reduce the weight of this boot scooter but they both feel sturdy and strong and this is mainly down to the steel frame that it is built on. There are lighter materials than steel of course but the use of steel in this instance really helps keep the cost down and makes this a good affordable boot scooter.

The heaviest part when broken down is just 15kg so this should be manageable for many people in terms of lifting it into the boot of your car. It follows the tested design of splitting it apart into five pieces and these all come apart and re-assemble very easily.

Our review of the Lithilite range shows that if you have any significant weakness in your wrists or arms or would struggle to lift 15kg and have no-one to help then this type of scooter is not ideal for you. You should consider an automatic folding scooter and use a car hoist or look at something like the ATTO scooter that splits apart into two pieces.

The build quality is very good and the ground clearance and wheels make it perfectly suited to getting around the shops or your local area - all without the risk of a puncture too. We found it comfortable thanks to the all round suspension and the maximum user weight is 113kg / 17.7 stone.

If you need to tackle rougher or tougher terrain then you might need to consider something with larger wheels too so just keep that in mind.

The swivel seat is smooth and this along with the movable armrests mean that getting on and off is a real doddle.

Lithilite scooter review conclusion

The two Lithilite models are an ideal choice for anyone in the market for a splittable boot scooter. They feature high build quality, offer great performance and are as lightweight as possible. If you can lift the sections and don't need to climb Ben Nevis on your scooter then any of the Lithilite models tick almost every box.
