This review of the Foldalite range takes into account the fact that any folding electric wheelchair is designed to be portable and convenient and typically used to get around your local area, in and out of shops etc and enjoying public spaces such as parks and National Trust sites.
Many people lift them into the boot of the car although you will certainly need to consider your own abilities to lift the weight - some users have friends or family to lift into the boot for them or else utilise a car boot hoist to do the work. You might be facing some limited mobility and just want to make things easier and a folding electric wheelchair does exactly that. You might primarily use your folding electric wheelchair indoors but also need it to go outside, or you need something that will handle rougher and tougher ground so be used outside as much as inside.
At first glance, our review of the Foldalite models show that they are clearly well built and of high quality but what makes them different from other folding electric wheelchairs on the market? One of the most impressive features of the Foldalite range is the high quality digital joystick that is not found on any other folding electric wheelchair. This joystick feels lovely to use and is very easy to understand and control. There are three settings available in regards to sensitivity which means you can find the best level of responsiveness for your own unique needs. The joystick can also be easily positioned on either side depending on what suits you best. All of the models were easy to fold and manage but as with all of these types of folding wheelchairs - you need to consider your own abilities to fold them and lift them. The standard Foldalite model weighs 25kg, the Foldalite Pro is 26.5kg and the Foldalite Trekker is that bit heavier at 33kg.

The range includes three models, each with a different type of use in mind;
So depending on where you will normally be using it you can be guided as to the types of wheels that are best. If you expect to be mainly indoors or using in shopping centres and inside shops etc then either the Foldalite or Foldalite Pro might be best whereas if you need to use it more outside than inside and need to get over bumpier or rougher ground then the Foldalite Trekker is a much better fit. Both the Foldalite and the Foldalite Pro have 8" rear wheels while the Foldalite Trekker has 12" rear wheels - so a significant difference there. All of the models feature excellent anti tips at the rear to really give a good feeling of stability - particularly useful when navigating kerbs etc. A key feature of all the models is that when they are folded they can be stood upright or wheeled about - just perfect for storage in the house. The adjustable backrest has four positions so you can find what is most comfortable for you and the generous storage area under the seat is ideal for popping in a shopping bag etc too. Don't forget we also offer an enhanced warranty option and you can see info on this on each product page - just call our helpful and friendly team on 028 92 67 70 77 if you need any help with this.

Our review of the Foldalite range shows that there is something to suit everyone looking for portability and practicality. They are well built and easy to use and offer great value for money given their high quality. If you need additional postural support or are living with a more complex condition then it is better to look at a more traditional powerchair in conjunction with your health professional.
