Aquatec Orca Reclining Bathlift

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Aquatec Orca Reclining Bathlift?

The Aquatec Orca is a portable reclining bath lift designed to help people safely lower themselves into and raise themselves out of the bath. Its space-saving design is intended to maximise immersion and legroom while bathing.

Who is the Aquatec Orca Bathlift suitable for?

The Aquatec Orca may be suitable for people who have difficulty lowering themselves into or getting back out of a bath but can safely transfer onto and off the bath lift. Individual mobility, balance, posture and transfer requirements should be considered.

Does the Aquatec Orca recline?

Yes. This version of the Aquatec Orca has a reclining backrest, allowing the user to adopt a more relaxed bathing position. The reclining function may also be useful for users who benefit from additional positioning options while bathing.

What are the benefits of a reclining bath lift?

A reclining bath lift allows the user's upper body to move backwards from an upright seated position. This can provide a more relaxed bathing position and may improve comfort for suitable users.

How does the Aquatec Orca Bathlift work?

The user transfers onto the seat before using the bath lift controls to lower themselves into the bath. After bathing, the powered lift raises the user back towards the top of the bath to assist with transferring out.

Can the Aquatec Orca help me get in and out of the bath?

Yes. The Aquatec Orca is designed for people who need assistance lowering themselves into and raising themselves out of a bath. Users must still be able to complete an appropriate transfer onto and off the bath lift, independently or with assistance.

Does the Aquatec Orca allow good immersion in the bath?

The Orca has a space-saving design intended to maximise immersion in the bath. This can help provide a more conventional bathing experience than remaining high above the bottom of the bath.

Does the Aquatec Orca provide good legroom?

Yes. The space-saving design is intended to maximise the amount of legroom available to the user while bathing. Actual available space will also depend on the dimensions and shape of the bath.

Is the Aquatec Orca Bathlift portable?

Yes. The Aquatec Orca is described as a portable reclining bath lift. This can be useful when the lift needs to be removed from the bath or stored when it is not required.

Will the Aquatec Orca fit my bath?

Bath dimensions and shapes vary, so compatibility should be checked before ordering. Compare the current Aquatec Orca dimensions with the length, width and internal shape of your bath, including the space required for safe transfers.

Can I use the Aquatec Orca independently?

Some users may be able to use the Orca independently if they can safely transfer onto the seat, operate the controls and maintain an appropriate sitting position. Other users may require assistance from a carer.

What is the maximum user weight for the Aquatec Orca?

Check the current Aquatec Orca technical specification for its maximum user weight or safe working load before purchase. The manufacturer's stated limit should never be exceeded.

Is the Aquatec Orca battery powered?

Check the current product specification for the precise power, battery and charging arrangements supplied with this version of the Aquatec Orca. The lift should always be charged and operated according to the manufacturer's instructions.

What is the difference between a reclining and non-reclining bath lift?

A reclining bath lift allows the backrest to tilt backwards to provide an alternative bathing position. A non-reclining model keeps the backrest in a more fixed position. Which is more appropriate depends on the user's posture, transfers, comfort and bathing preferences.

Does the Aquatec Orca require permanent installation?

The Orca is designed as a portable bath lift rather than a permanently installed bathing system. It must nevertheless be correctly positioned and secured according to the manufacturer's instructions before use.

Can a carer assist someone using the Aquatec Orca?

Yes, where appropriate. The amount of assistance required depends on the user's mobility and transfer needs. Carers should follow the manufacturer's instructions and any individual moving and handling plan.

How do I know if the Aquatec Orca is the right bath lift for me?

Consider your ability to transfer onto and off the seat, maintain a safe sitting position and operate the lift. Bath dimensions and whether you would benefit from a reclining backrest should also be considered. An occupational therapist or other appropriate healthcare professional can provide advice where needs are more complex.

How should I clean the Aquatec Orca Bathlift?

Clean and maintain the Aquatec Orca according to the manufacturer's instructions. Regular cleaning, inspection and appropriate battery care will help keep the bath lift hygienic and ready for use.
