Job Title: Field Based Sales Ireland – Mobility Specialist

Reports to: Sales Manager

Job Summary:

John Preston & Co, Est 1846, a sixth-generation Lisburn based family business require a field-based mobility sales specialist to provide a demonstration, assessment, handover and review service for our range of mobility equipment, working both directly with disabled customers and in joint visits alongside healthcare professionals including Occupational Therapists & Physio Therapists.

Our customer base which includes the NHS, Health Service Executive, Charities, Access to work scheme, Motability Scheme and the disabled community throughout the island of Ireland.

This is a highly technical sales role which requires competency with a range of tools and programming devices. Our wheelchair range is manufactured to order to suit the individual needs of the disabled user and therefore attention to detail and accurate note taking are also an essential attribute.

You will be required to treat all customers with patience, respect and be aware that many of our customers are disabled or have learning difficulties and require clear communications

You will develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of the range of products in your portfolio and the correct prescription to best meet the needs of the client.

You will provide a professional, friendly and high level of service to our customers and promote John Preston & Company in a positive manner at all times.

The ideal candidate will live in Northern Ireland based out of our head office in Lisburn where you will have access to our comprehensive stock of demonstration equipment.


We supply an extensive range of leading brand mobility equipment including Permobil, Progeo, Quickie, TiLite, Kuschall, Alber, TriRide, RGK, Activate4 Kids, Rio Mobility, Pride, Quantum, Jay and many others.

Area of Business:

Key B2B accounts with the NHS / HSE are already established and there is scope to expand our market share in B2B sales however this remains a predominately B2C role and is customer focused.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will join our sales team as a specialist in mobility equipment

Your duties will include;

• Field based sales and review service provision for a diverse range of wheelchairs, mobility scooters and special needs strollers and other high value mobility equipment.

• Demonstrating, advising and educating customers throughout Ireland on a comprehensive range of products and providing assistance to them in carrying out product assessments, product set up and product reviews.

• Conducting fault finding diagnosis and subsequent repairs on your portfolio of products

• Deliveries, collections and handovers of portfolio • Bringing equipment to the customer for demonstration. A company commercial vehicle will be provided.

• Provision of the highest standards of service to build and maintain excellent customer relationships

• Planning & monitoring of sales activities to achieve overall sales and individual product targets for the territory

• Maintaining a high level of customer contact and communication and proactively identifying opportunities for business development.

• Managing your diary effectively to maximise the time spent with customers and ensuring your availability for appointments when requested.

• Overnight travel may be a requirement as you grow your customer base in Ireland.

• Arranging and carrying out Lunch and Learn product awareness training

• Creating new customers through planned customer sales visits.

• Following up on sales visits and maintaining good customer contact.

• Developing and maintaining an accurate sales contact database.

• Ensure all relevant paperwork is completely accurately

• Ensure all equipment is labelled clearly at all times.

• Report all issues, adverse situations and product feedback to your line manager

• Treating all customers with patience, respect and be aware that many of our customers are disabled or have learning difficulties and require clear communications.

• Develop good working relationships with other staff.


• Ensure all Health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to.

• Treat company Vehicles and Equipment with care.

• Attend training as and when required to update specific product knowledge and develop skills.
