Decontamination

John Preston & Company is an ISO Registered company. We hold several contracts to cleanse community care appliances as well as hospital equipment including beds, commodes, chairs and suction machines.

The cleansing of equipment demands consistant thoroughness and adherence to strict protocols in order to provide equipment suitable for reissue to a client and prevent spread of infection. We liase closely with Trust Infection control staff in providing regular suitable quality control checks to ensure the highest standards are met.

John Preston & company operate a specially design cleansing unit which operates a strict one-way-flow system to prevent cross contamination. This unit is staffed by an experienced and dedictated team.

Maintenance & Servicing

Our maintenance department carries out repairs, servicing and PPM’s on the full range of Community Care Appliances including Powered and Manual wheelchairs.
In 2004, in partnership with Shiloh PLC, we set up Shiloh Active Care Ireland who are now known as Synergy Ireland and we were jointly awarded the Regional Wheelchair Repair Contract. We are now the largest wheelchair repair and servicing unit in Ireland. We currently have eight mobile engineers and four in-house engineers dedicated to repair, servicing and modifications.

Deep Cleansing

We design specific programmes for the Deep Cleansing of Community and Hospital equipment. These programmes take into account the special requirements of our customers, for example, the timing can be a factor so we work with our customers to provide them with the best possible service with the least disruption.

Community Care Appliance Recycling

We have a specifically designed unit for cleansing and refurbishing Community Care Appliances which provides a high quality of service which is value for money. The design of the cleansing unit and the protocols used in the operations have been created using Control of Infection principals. We provide this service for customers throughout Ireland.

Pressure Mapping Services

Our non- intrusive patient mapping services are available to Occupational Therapists, Tissue Viability Nurses, Podiatrists, Physiotherapists and Community Nurses in both Acute and Community sectors.

The XSensor Technology system will supply you with valuable data based on biomechanic principles, helping you to better understand and analyze the condition of patients so that you can offer the best prescriptions and treatment outcomes. Moreover, our systems employ user-friendly software that enables you to easily document outcomes, which you can use for patient education and in insurance claims.

Our system has a remote PDA display unit which allows for real time viewing of the results.

Equipment Assessments

We carry a wide range of demonstration stock and can arrange a product demonstration at any hospital in Ireland. As well as regular provide regular training on all our products, we also attend joint assessments with clinicians, therapists nursing staff and their patients. Where appropriate, we can arrange to leave equipment with the client for a trial period of up to 72 hours. John Preston specialise in Specialist Seating, Moving & Handling, Continence Care and Mobility products in Ireland.

Equipment Rental

If a therapist should require a more extensive trial of a piece of equipment, we have a rental programme. We rent a range of specialist seating products including the HydroTilt Waterchair as well as manual wheelchairs. Our customers include Hospital ward who need a specialist chair short term and community trusts who are waiting for specialist wheelchairs to arrive and need a chair in a hurry so the patient can go out to a nursing home, hence freeing up costly acute beds.

Wheelchair Insurance

John Preston & Company are authorised agents for Standard Life Wheelchair insurance.

Our Wheelchair Insurance Policy is designed for owners of manual wheelchairs valued at up to 2000. A wide range of standard cover is provided for customers requiring truly comprehensive insurance protection.

For wheelchairs purchased new, you will have the option of insuring for 12, 24 or 36 months. For used wheelchairs, you will normally be allowed to take out this insurance for a period of 12 months only. Prior to expiry, all policies will be offered
renewal for a period of 12 months.

Our Premier Care High Value Mobility Insurance policy is designed for owners of mobility scooters and power chairs valued between 5,000 and 15,000 and provides insurance protection in the event of accidental damage (including fire, theft and
malicious damage) and personal liability arising from its ownership or use.
For equipment purchased new you will have the option of insuring for 12, 24 or 36 months. For used equipment, you will normally only be allowed to take out this insurance for a period of 12 months only. Prior to expiry, all policies will be offered
renewal for a period of 12 months.

High Value Mobility Warranty for Powerchairs & Scooters

Our Premier Care High Value Mobility Warranty policy is designed for owners of mobility scooters and power chairs valued
between 5,000 and 15,000 and provides insurance protection in the event of accidental mechanical or electrical
breakdown.
This insurance is available for new equipment only. Cover will commence immediately after the manufacturers guarantee
expires and you will be given the option of being covered for either 12 or 24 months. Whichever period has been chosen,
prior to expiry renewal will be offered for 12 months only.
